We walk our dogs, why not walk our cats? If you have an indoor cat, you know how hard it is to make sure that they are getting the proper exercise to keep them healthy. One way to ensure that they get moving is to leash train them (it's also great for bonding and socialization!).
Here are few tips to get you started:
The key to creating a pleasant experience is to pay attention to your cats body language. Don’t force your cat into a stressful situation. If you notice that your cat is becoming uncomfortable or overly distracted, cut the walk short or move to an environment that is less stressful for your cat. With patience and close attention, you can help your cat learn to enjoy the outdoors under your guidance and protection. Again, not all cats will take to leash walking. If your cat does not warm up to the idea, find some fun indoor alternatives to keep his/her interest. Check out the FAQ page for some great indoor play options.
I am surrounded by loving animals 24/7 and I would not have it any other way.
